The Nation Municipality Public Library is committed to providing equal access for all members of the community to information, lifelong learning, literacy, and the love of reading. 



TEMPORARY SERVICE DISRUPTIONS - 
ACCESSIBILITY ADVISORIES

The Library provides notice of planned or unplanned service disruption to the public, including information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration and a description of alternative facilities or service, if any, that may be available. All service disruptions will be 
posted on this page.

INFORMATION SERVICES

The Library provides information services for persons with disabilities by telephone, fax, email and remote access to the library catalogue including electronic databases and resources. 


FACILITIES

Limoges, St Albert and the St Isidore branches of the library are wheelchair accessible. 


COLLECTIONS

The Library develops and maintains accessible collections in a variety of formats including: large print books, audiobooks, DVDs and literacy materials. The Library also offers downloadable e-Books and audiobooks as well as access to a full range of electronic databases that you can access from the library or from your home. 

The library’s collections and community information displays include materials with information on a range of disabilities, disability issues, and services for people with disabilities. 

PATRONS WITH PRINT DISABILITIES :
To improve the provision of library services to people with print disabilities, the Library has partnered with the CNIB Library to provide access to: ul>
  • Books of all kinds for all ages in English DAISY, French DAISY, braille, and PrintBraille
  • Newspapers and magazines online
  • Descriptive DVD
  • Braille music scores and audio music instruction CDs
  • The Children's Discovery Portal and 60 Plus Portal 

    • The Nation Municipality Public Library has a collection of Daisy CD's at each of the three (3) branches and a Daisy reader. The list of titles is available upon request. The loan period is the same as regular books (3 weeks).

    ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

    The Nation Municipality Public Library is committed to gradually adding adaptive technologies for persons with disabilities as available technologies and budgets allow. General assistance in using adaptive technologies is provided by Library staff

    The Nation Municipality Public Library Board has adopted a Customer Services Policy for users with disabilities. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that library services provided to persons with disabilities are accessible, equitable, and delivered in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of the individual and that the Library is compliant with the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its regulations.
